Ladisten Clinic uses unique to the Clinic Ilizarov-Veklich devices. The idea of devices is based on Ilizarov frame, which was named after the Russian doctor who invented it.
At some point of his practice Dr. Veklich noticed that there were multiple limitations and problems that classic surgery with Ilizarov’s frame applied caused – limited mobility, contractures, pain and pin infections were some of them. Thus there was a great need in improved fixator that would meet patients’ needs on the one hand, and could help in achieving goals, set by surgeon, on the other. Dr. V.Veklich efforts and practical implications of theory brought results – the fixators transformed into completely new Ilizarov-Veklich external devices that he started to apply for limb lengthening or deformities correction.
Although Veklich devices vary depending on the procedure the patient is undergoing (limb lengthening, bow legs, knock-knee or trauma healing) all of them are made from titanium, not heavy or awkward, most of them do NOT have pins, bring more comfort to patients, make treatment more effective and less risky.
Some points to see Ilizarov-Veklich devices:
- Made from titanium, thus strong and safe
- Comfortable to wear as smaller than other external devices
- Leave minimal scarring (small 2 mm spots on the skin disappear after some time)
- Light in weight
- Easy to take off after treatment is over
Minimally-invasive surgery with appliance of Ilizarov-Veklich device improved quality of patient lives dramatically and also allow Clinic’s surgeons to achieve better treatment results.
