Correction of Bow Legs (Bilateral Tibia Vara) and Limb Lengthening
Helena came into Ladisten Clinic with orthopedic problem of legs deformity (bow legs) and limbs shortening. She had bow legs and limb shortening since birth. The severity of her case required orthopaedic surgeon with a breadth of experience in the area of deformity correction surgery and limb lengthening.
There is always a hope at Ladisten Clinic, and Helena used her chance to get happy and be active for all her further life, she deserved it. Her parents gave a go on bow legs surgery and the following afterwards limb lengthening. Now they recall they decided it and were sure it had to be done: Ladisten Clinic had to help Helena to have normal legs. The process took some time but results were worth it. Ladisten divided treatment into 2 stages. The first stage included deformity correction of the right thigh and limb lengthening by 2 cm., then the deformity correction of the right shin with limb lengthening, resulted in + 5 cm. The second stage of treatment required the same surgery and treatment to the other leg: deformity correction of bones and limb lengthening. As a result of the treatment at Ladisten, the thighs and shins deformation were corrected, and limb lengthening helped to increase the hight to + 7 cm.
With her legs straightened and lengthened now Helena can enjoy her new life and is happy to share her experience of being taller and healthier, as we also prevented her from knee arthritis that she might have of incorrect biomechanic axis...

An 15-years-old Boris visited Ladisten Clinic first in 2004. His problem was limb length difference of his arms. The difference in shoulders' length was around 7 cm. The case of Boris and successful results are present in the Pictures Gallery, so you may review yourself how Ladisten Clinic's solutions help patients to correctly address problems and solve them quickly, relatively fast and with minimal scarring. Ladisten provides unmatchable results to anyone who believes and cooperate, as successful outcomes are only partially achieved by Clinic, same part is the share of patients.
Achondroplasia, Limb Lengthening
We saw Artem first January, 2006. The boy was diagnosed Achondroplasia and his parents were looking for effective solution to somehow improve the situation.
Achondroplasia is a genetic (inherited) condition that results in abnormally short stature. All persons with achondroplasia are little people. The average height of an adult with achondroplasia is 131 cm (52 inches, or 4 foot 4) in males and 124 cm (49 inches, or 4 foot 1) in females.
Achondroplasia is the most common cause of short stature with disproportionately short limbs.
Knowing what to expect from the future, parents of Artem were looking for ways to improve the situation and probably to perform limb lengthening. None doctors gave a hand with limb lengthening solution to Artem, because the case was quite unique and required special knowledge of treatment of achondroplasia and professionalism in orthopedics.
Luckily, mother of Artem found out about Ladisten Clinic and Vitaliy Veklich from one of Ladisten patients who at that moment finished hight increase treatment at Ladisten and was happy with results. Parents came with Artem to Ladisten asking for solution. The solution offered by Vitali Veklich, the head of the Ladisten Clinic could not give results right away and noone really expected them to be done in a day. Severe case of disproportion needed to be addressed and eliminated, hight increase required months of hard work.
There were couple phases of treatment. First phase took place when Artem was 3 years old: 6 cm of limb lengthening (tibia), and it took 4.5 months to achieve. Next phase at age of 4, Artem got the next stage of limb lengthening (femur) of 7 cm. The best way parents could tell about the lengthening process is that Artem had painful moments NOT painful days and it was all worth it.
Now parents of Artem are planning to undergo 5 cm shoulder length increase, the phase 3.
Successful story is still in the process of being written day by day by Artem, his parents and Ladisten head surgeon - Vitaliy Veklich...
